1,481 were normal and 1,377 were thyroid patients. The incidence of disease is 48%. The incidence of disease for the first time thyroid examination is 30% for euthyroid nodules goiter disease and 9% for hypothyroidism.
611 multinodular goiter, 102 solitary thyroid nodules, 133 euthyroid
thyroiditis, 8 toxic nodules goiter, 2 diffuse toxic goiter, 35 recurrent goiter, 62 normal findings after thyroidectomy, 2 parathyroid adenoma, 401 hypothyroidism, 21 T4 hypothyroid patients were identified.
Thyroid fine needle aspiration biopsy (IIAB) was recommended in 162 patients and surgical treatment was recommended in 41 patients. Patients can be reached by telephone checks; It was learned that 51 patients out of 129 patients who underwent IIAB had biopsy, three had thyroid cancer, two had been asked to repeat IIAB because of insufficient material, and 46 had benign nodule findings. It was learned that 7 out of 22 patients who had surgical treatment were treated surgically.
As a result; When the people living in Istanbul are taken as a whole, it is seen that 39% of the population has a thyroid disease. This situation reveals the necessity of a public health policy in order to raise the awareness of the society in terms of thyroid diseases and to treat the disease as an endemic disease and to increase screening and treatment programs
